Parkinson's disease is a chronic progressive neurological condition affecting more than 10 million people worldwide. For people with Parkinson's disease, exercise is a vital component to maintaining balance, mobility, and being able to do daily activities. Research has shown that the more exercise a Parkinson's person does, the more efficient the brain becomes at processing dopamine.

Currently I have six clients with Parkinson's, including my father, who I have been working with for 15 years. I have implemented a unique system that I feel has been effective at slowing the progression of symptoms. I have taken some of the best elements from boxing programs such as Rock Steady and combined it with physiotherapy elements such as walking gait focus, balance, core and postural strengthening. Throughout the session plenty of facilitated stretching is performed to maintain flexibility. Clients with Parkinson's require the personal attention and customization of their programs that can only be achieved with personal training. In a one on one setting, there is also a greater efficiency of what can be accomplished compared to a group class.
